Osteen vs. Driscoll
Three minutes you may never get back, but something I think you should see. My roommate Leaha is a fan of Mark Driscoll and is planning to take me to see him teach live - since I missed his appearance at Willingdon (good thing though... watch it on Willigdon's site - all 1hour+ of it). Regardless of my feelings about Mark Driscoll and women in the Church he has some very valuable points about the state of our general faith in North America
Be glad you weren't at willingdon for his speech there I know people who were let's just say I dont think he and I are on the same page on the issue of women and ministry either. That being said I think this was an informative clip and a good counter to the Health and Wealth word of faith movement of which Joel Osteen (Christianity's answer to Anthony Robbings) is merely the current spokesperson.
I wonder what Osteen would have to say about Lazarus, the woman at the well, the blind man that was healed, etc...and he seems to have forgotten the "wee lil'" part about how the poor will always be with us.
jocelyn, while I giggled at your comment, I wonder if there isn't a great issue - to live under the belief that life will look glossy and perfect when the truth is, it isn't it's so far from that... it may be a nice life on the surface with all the wonders of this world, I figure underneath it would be alienating and hard. Then again hopefully I'm wrong
That's interesting. I don't know who this individual is, but it seems that he's speaking from the Bible concerning women's silence. As unpopular/strange as it may be, Paul's teaching is very clear. I'd be interested in seeing any scripture to support the view that women should speak in the Church.

Osteen scares me a little. I wonder what it's like to be his kids...
