As a result of The Irresistible Revolution, I have started reading the books Claiborne footnoted. And being my over-achiever self I have started 2 of them at the same time, in addition to all my new cookbooks. The Long Loneliness, by Dorothy Day and Henri Nouwen's With Open Hands. Both are wonderful, but somewhat different. Nouwen's book is primarily about prayer, in a way that I find constructive, especially in this transitional time of "adulthood," as cliche as that may sound. Nouwen's discusses the things we hold onto, the silence we are afraid of, and other issue that we may or may not believe are related to our prayer life. The Long Loneliness... the review is coming - this is what happens when you try and do too many things at one time.
A gathering place for the UCM Community at SFU. Stuff we are thinking about, praying about,or excited about.
